Happy Birthday, C!

My middle dd is going to a sleepover tomorrow for her friend, C and wanted me to make a card for her.  One of the things  C is getting is a gift card, so I did a search for a gift card holding card and this is what I found from Dawn's blog.  Super easy to follow video, so check it out.

I used the Sweet Shop Designer Stickers, Sweet Shop Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Sweet Cake stamp set from the current Occasions Mini catalog!  Top Note die, Stampin' Write Markers in Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Soft Suede.  Ribbon in Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade is from Sale-A-Bration and some Whisper White ribbon.  The white bag and white tissue paper is from my scrapbook stash, not sure where I got it.

Rawr!

A funny story....I just sent in an application for a creative team today.  New to all the non-SU digi stuff out there (designers and sites), I sat down to just scrap this layout this afternoon.  Not even realizing it, I chose a kit using stuff created by the very person I applied for their creative team!  Cool....yet kinda creepy at the same time.  I think it's karma.  She's totally going to pick me to be on her creative team! ;)

I downloaded this kit from the Shabby Princess site and it's called Sun Porch.  I used a Sketchabilities sketch.  Pics are of Mara and Ollie snuggling on the back deck one day.  Mara kept kissing on him, but I don't think he was enjoying it much!  That picture of him baring his teeth looks waaaaay worse than it is.  Ollie is the sweetest, gentlest puppy ever and no, he did not bite or nip Mara.  He just got tired of her kisses!  The journaling block is a "punch" from a Stampin' Up kit for MDS.

Thoughts & Prayers

Uh oh.  That's all I've got to say.

In the MDS class I'm taking with Heather Summers, she showed us how to make a card in My Digital Studio.  Yeah, whatever.  Not really diggin' it.  I was convinced I wasn't going to like it.  I love playing with my scrapbooking stuff too much to make a card in MDS.  I've already abandoned some of my scrap stuff creating layouts in MDS, but I was NOT going to do that with cards.  Nope. Not gonna happen.  Sure, I make invitations, notebooks and flyers, but not cards. Uh uh.

But, since I paid for the class I might as well try it, right?  Just to prove to myself that using real supplies are really the way to go.

Well, I did it.  And I like card.  Alot.  And it was cool to do it on MDS.  WHAT?!?!?  Yes, I liked the whole process.  People at work are always needing sympathy cards.  Sad, but true.  Well, I can just upload this and make several copies to have on hand now.  It's that easy!  Crap.

Whatdya think for my first attempt at a digi card?  Oh, I used a Cardabilities sketch to help me out.  Here's the sketch:

smile

So, I did it.  I had been thinking about it and I did it.  I signed up for the MDS 2 with Heather on Heather Summer's blog (her blog link is in my list to the right of the page).  She's the MDS guru and I wanted to be like her!  LOL!

One of the "challenges" she gave is our first week was to use an already made template and modify it to fit our pictures.  I have to admit, I've never done that.  I enjoy making my own layouts, templates are there as a bonus if I ever need them.  I delved into Downtown Grunge and found this.  I added a couple of overlays (to fill in the white space!!  My eye started twitching just leaving it alone as it was!)  I added a pretty flower stamp to feminize it up and kept the title simple to go along with the page.  And that's it!

BTW, the background is Crumb Cake, but for some reason posting it, it shows up with a green hue????  When I view it in MDS it's normal.  Anyone have any ideas why that's happening?

So excited!!

Ok, so I was going to totally post this layout next week because I have stuff already scheduled to post, but I'm too flippin' excited to wait!  Once I tell you why, you'll roll your eyes, but this is something that made me so giddy with excitement, I couldn't help it!  (Ask my hubby.  I was literally jumping around the house after I got this figured out!  He totally didn't get it.)

So, I've been reading that one could purchase digi kits from other places and incorporate it into Stampin' Up's My Digital Studio software.  I had a couple of free kits downloaded from a while back that just sit on my computer because I had no idea what to do with them.  I eventually forgot about them and found them a couple of days ago while I was trying to figure out how to install some free fonts (yet another freaking headache for me that I eventually figured out by myself) I had downloaded.  I tried and tried and tried to get those stinkin' kits into MDS and just couldn't figure it out!  I was ready to SCREAM!!!  And throw stuff!!  Emailed back and forth with my friend, Liz, and scoured the MDS forums and eventually got it figured out! (THANKS LIZ, YOU ARE PHENOMENAL!)

So.....I installed it in My Digital Studio and went to town on a layout today!  And I LOVE it!!  I'm so super excited about this!!  This just opens up a whole world of MORE opportunities for my digi scrapbooking!!!

Here's my digi layout using the free digi kit, Happy Go Lucky, from Shabby Princess:

Pics are my girly girls during an impromptu session one Sunday afternoon a couple of weekends ago.  I saw this field of wildflowers I couldn't wait to trespass on (Ssshh!  Don't tell!) to get some fantastic photos! ;)

Whatcha think?!?!  Everything I used on here is from the Happy Go Lucky kit, except I did use the flag punch from Stampin' Up.  This stuff works EXACTLY like everything downloaded and made for My Digital Studio software so it's sooooooooo easy peasy!!  Just another reason to LOVE My Digital Studio!!!  (Can you tell I'm excited?!?!?!?!)  For someone as computer illiterate as me, this is AMAZING!!!  If I have piqued your interest in My Digital Studio, please contact me TODAY!  I want to share this awesome software with everyone!  Oh, and the font I used on this was one I installed by myself as well!  So proud of myself!  LOL!!

And, here's the Sketchabilities sketch that I used!

Bag Ladies

This is a layout I made while I was at Crop for the Cure last month.  It was the last layout of the 12 hr crop and I just kept adding and adding crap to it.  Not sure if I like it or not, it's kinda busy, but that's never stopped me before!

Pics are of McKenna and Micah squeezing themselves into a bag of mine.  Crazy girls.

I used My Sweet Pea DSP and stitched embellishments, Scallop Dots ribbon and knot, a Paper Daisy, and Perfect Label punch.

September Stamp Club Layout!

And here's the layout we did back in September!  I know, I'm late in posting this, but I had been wanting to put pictures on the layouts before posting them but realized that probably wasn't going to happen any time soon, so here it is.  The DSP was from the mini catalog, along with the stamp set and I can't remember either name!!  We also used the Pennant Punch, Postage Stamp punch, 2 3/8" & 1 3/4" Scallop circle punches.  Crumb Cake 12x12.

Let's Capture These Sketches!

Here's the latest sketch at LCTS!

I love this sketch, but haven't had a chance to create anything with it yet.  But, you know what to do....create a layout using this sketch, upload it somewhere and link to it on the LCTS blog!

November Stamp Club layout

Ok, this was the layout we made back in November.  Sorry I'm just now getting around to posting it.  I can't remember the DSP, but it was in the last mini catalog.  We used the Medallion stamp and the stamp set Pennant Parade and the matching pennant punch.  Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch, Scallop border punch, ribbon from the mini, Baker's Twine, and the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch.

January Stamp Club layout!

Here's the layout we did for January Stamp Club using the new DSP in the Occasions Mini called Twitterpated and it's GORGEOUS!  It also has matching fabric which we used on the layout as well.  We used the Bordering on Romance stamp set from the Occasions Mini as well.  Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch, a Twitterpated button, and Sweetest Stem for the Big Shot.  We also used some Dazzling Details on the stamped flower images.

Sweet Shop

Here's the layout we did for Stamp Club last month using the new DSP in the Occasions Mini called Sweet Shop!  Isn't it adorable?!  And I love that it uses every single of the latest In Colors!  We also used the new stamp set Sweet Cake that goes awesome with the DSP.  Finished it off with some Calypso Coral Baker's Twine.  We also used the new scented embossing powder on the cherry and heart on the stamp, but you can't see or smell it from the photo!

Aunt

It's FRIDAY!!  Sketch reveal day at LCTS!!  Here's the sketch by Natalie....

And here's my version....

Yeah, I know what you're thinking....how is my layout anything like the sketch?!?!  Well, it was more of a jumping off point for me with this sketch.  I can't stand white space and I try and put more than one photo on a layout when I do digital, so this is what I ended up with.

I used the new Summer Smooches DSP, flag punch, Bright Blossoms stamp brush set, Decorative Label punch, and a rhinestone.

Pics are of my girls with their awesome Aunt Jeanne back in 2008.

I think this was my favorite club project this month!  I found this adorable bunny cello bag topper on Pinterest and knew we had to make it for club!!  And this was super duper easy to make, too.

Top Note Die folded in half.  2 size oval punches, 2 size circle punches, word window, modern label, and some ribbon.  Happy Easter is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Small cello bag and voila!  Fill with whatever candy you want!

Happy Easter

Here's the card we did for March's Stamp Club!  Isn't he the cutest?!  I saw this on Pinterest and knew it would be perfect for clubbers to do!

I found the template online.  We used a ton of punches on here!  Scallop Edge border, Pinking Hearts border, Scallop Trim border, Dotted Scallop Ribbon border, Heart to Heart, 5 Petal flower, Boho Blossoms,  and finally, 1/2" circle!  We used a Flower brad and the stamp sets I {heart} Hearts & Teeny Tiny Wishes, and Blushing Bride 3/8" Pleated Satin Ribbon.

Just a Note

At our monthly downline meeting at Tiffany's, she has been making us step out of our box and giving us crazy color combos and a sketch to do for the next month's meeting.  She gave us these colors and a sketch from a past Stampin' Success magazine and this is what I came up with!

Correct me if I'm wrong, Sistahs, but I believe the colors are Wisteria Wonder, Pink Pirrouette, and Riding Hood Red.  We could add any neutral cardstock or embellishments, so I chose Whisper White cardstock and ribbon and a silver brad.

I used the stamp set out of the Occasions Mini (available until April 30!) Just My Type and the embossing folder Houndstooth.
